Eye on the Universe

Astronomy, deep space art, observatory life, and analog eclipse photography.

Observatory Life

In the Field

Astronomy here is not only the finished image, but also the act of going out, setting up, waiting, observing, and being present under the sky.

Observatories, instruments, and iconic landscapes form part of the project’s visual language.

Collaboration

Analog Eclipse Works

In collaboration with artist and photographer Betsy Green, Antoine Ribaut explores eclipse photography on film using antique large-format systems, handmade optics, and adapted telescope-based workflows.

This body of work connects astronomical observation with the lineage of early photographic practice — where eclipse light, chemistry, optics, and timing all become part of the final image.

About

Antoine
Ribaut

From a very young age, Antoine Ribaut had his eye on the universe. His work explores the meeting point of astronomy, deep-space imaging, and fine art. Using both handmade optics and advanced astronomical instruments, he captures the faint structures of interstellar clouds, nebulae, and galaxies, revealing worlds normally hidden to human sight.

Antoine has collaborated with TIME Magazine on multiple projects, including NASA and SpaceX rocket launches at Cape Canaveral, and participated in the live-broadcast capture of the total solar eclipse of 2017.

His long-term ambition is to establish an observatory in one of the darkest rural areas of New Mexico, built for those who want to experience the night sky with the intensity and wonder it once held.

He also appeared as the lead astrophotographer in a Jeep 4xe campaign, bringing astronomical observation into a broader visual and commercial context.
